This Privacy Policy explains how KhanSoft (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Duplicate File Remover mobile application (“App”).
1. Information We Collect
The App does not require an account.
We do not upload, store, sell, or share your personal files, photos, videos, audio files, documents, file contents, thumbnails, or scan results on our own servers.
The App processes files locally on your device to provide cleanup and storage-management features.
The App may temporarily access file information such as:
File names
File paths and storage locations
File sizes
File types
File dates
File URIs
File previews or thumbnails
Locally generated hashes used for comparison
This information is used only to operate the App’s scanning and cleanup features.
2. File Scanning and App Features
The App may access files stored on your device for the following purposes:
Finding duplicate images, videos, audio files, and documents
Finding similar photos
Finding and reviewing screenshots
Scanning the Downloads folder
Finding large files
Showing storage usage and file categories
Displaying scan results and thumbnails
Helping you delete files selected by you
Similar-photo detection, duplicate detection, screenshot scanning, and file analysis are performed locally on your device. File contents and detailed scan information are not uploaded to our servers.
3. Permissions Used
The App may request different permissions depending on your Android version and the feature you use.
Media permissions
The App may use:
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES to scan images, similar photos, and screenshots
READ_MEDIA_VIDEO to scan videos
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO to scan audio files
READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED on supported Android versions when access is limited to media selected by the user
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android versions
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android versions where required for file operations
All Files Access
The App may request Android’s “All files access” permission through MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE for features that need to inspect or manage files across storage directories, including:
Large-file scanning
Downloads scanning
Storage analysis
File deletion and cleanup operations
This permission is used only for the App’s storage-analysis and cleanup functionality.
Internet
Internet access is used to:
Display advertisements through Google AdMob
Support Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics
Load the privacy-policy webpage and other required online content
Advertising ID
The App may use the Android Advertising ID through Google advertising services for advertising, ad measurement, fraud prevention, and related advertising functionality.
4. Local Data Storage
The App may store basic preferences such as the selected theme, onboarding status, and other settings locally on your device. Temporary scan data, thumbnails, file metadata, and results may be held in memory while a scan or review screen is open. This information is not uploaded to our servers. Local preferences are removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall the App, subject to Android backup and restore settings.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses third-party services that may collect and process information according to their own privacy policies.
Google AdMob
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements.

IP address and approximate location

We do not intentionally send your personal files, file contents, filenames, file paths, thumbnails, or scan results to AdMob, Firebase, or our own servers.

We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share your photos, videos, audio files, documents, file contents, filenames, file paths, thumbnails, or scan results with third parties.
Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics may independently collect and process advertising, analytics, device, diagnostic, and crash-related information as described in this policy and their own privacy policies.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Detailed file information is used locally while scanning, reviewing, or deleting files.
Android backup and restore features may preserve app data according to your device and backup settings.
You may control or revoke storage and media permissions through Android Settings.
8. Data Security
File scanning and duplicate or similarity detection are performed locally on your device.
We do not operate servers that store your personal files or detailed scan results.
We use reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App and rely on Google’s security practices for advertising, analytics, and crash-reporting services.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us.

Grant or deny storage and media permissions
Revoke permissions through Android Settings
Clear local App data through Android Settings
Uninstall the App
Manage advertising personalization through Google settings
Disable or limit Android’s Advertising ID where supported
