Data Collection

Kohaku does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising frameworks. No account creation is required to use the app.

Local Storage

All user preferences, favorites, and download history are stored locally on your device using SwiftData and UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to anyone other than you.

Data stored locally includes:

- Favorite wallpapers and download history

- App settings such as color preferences, appearance mode, grid layout, and image quality

- Blocked keywords for content filtering

- AI feature usage count (daily limit tracking)

- Language preference

Network Requests

Kohaku connects to two external services to provide its core functionality:

1. Pexels API (api.pexels.com)

Used to fetch wallpaper images. Pexels may log standard server request data such as IP addresses per their own privacy policy. Kohaku does not send any personal information to Pexels.

2. Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com)

Used for AI-powered features including mood search, wallpaper descriptions, haiku generation, and similar wallpaper discovery. Only wallpaper metadata (color, description, dimensions) is sent. No personal information is transmitted.

All network requests are made over HTTPS.

Photo Library Access

Kohaku requests permission to save wallpapers to your photo library. This permission is used solely for saving wallpapers you choose to download. The app does not read or access any existing photos on your device.

Notifications

If you enable the Daily Pick feature, Kohaku uses local notifications to deliver daily wallpaper recommendations. No push notification service or external server is involved.
