Research Interests: Taxation, fiscal policy, tax enforcement, wealth taxation, applied macroeconomics.
I am an economist completing a PhD in Economics at the Australian National University, with interests in macroeconomics, public finance, and tax policy. My work focuses on understanding how tax systems can raise revenue efficiently while addressing distributional concerns and long-run fiscal sustainability.
My research uses quantitative life-cycle and overlapping-generations models to study taxation, tax enforcement, and wealth taxation, combining theoretical modelling with empirical analysis using administrative and household microdata. I develop and implement computational models in Fortran, MATLAB, and Python, and my work contributes to both academic research and applied policy debates.
Alongside my PhD research, I am currently working on an Oxfam Australia–funded project analysing wealth taxation in Australia. I also have prior experience in government policy settings, including roles at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Finance and National Board of Revenue, and have taught advanced macroeconomics at ANU.
