Syllabus till the previous class ( Fourier series, Fourier Transform, Function space and basis functions, special functions in different domains, orthogonal polynomials, generalised Rodrigue's formula, Hermite, Laguerre, Jacobi and Legendre polynomials).
Open book (only hard copies)
August 25th
Syllabus till the previous class (Tensors effectively)
Open book (only hard copies)
Graded, each is (Tentatively) worth 5 marks of total grade. Total 2 (Before & After Midsem).
Assignment 1 - Deadline is before Mid-sems (19th September Noon) - Completed
Assignment 2 - Deadline is before End-Sems
Overview (25/08/2025)
Coordinates & Tensors - Completed
Complex Analysis - Completed
Function Spaces - Post Mid-Sem
These are all different course materials, with a lot of overlap. I have written what I think they are best for, but it's based on just a glance, so I recommend seeing for yourself.
Physics - Selected Topics in Mathematical Physics - Complex Analysis (in-depth), Transforms, DE's, Some concepts for Rotational Analysis
Mathematical Methods in Physics 1 - Linear Algebra, Transforms, Basic DE's
Mathematical methods in Physics I by Prof. Samudra Roy - Best for Linear Algebra, Transforms, Polynomials, Complex Analysis
Current Notes from a friend of mine (Kedhar Athreya, batch of '28), All thanks go to him. For last update, see the link.
So, this is a decent textbook I found for this course, but I haven't fully used it yet
Mathematical Physics: A Modern Introduction to its Foundations by Sadri Hassani
Tensor Algebra by Eigenchris (Not a pre-requisite, but really useful).
Tensor Calculus by Eigenchris (Relevant to the material).
Mathematics for Physicists (by Dennery & Krzywicki)
Methods of Theoretical Physics (by Morse & Feshback)
Methods of Mathematical Physics (by Courant & Hilbert)
MidSems : 30
EndSems : 50
