Drawing by Henry Garf

“Sombras/Shadows" follows a narrative structure reflecting the theme both visually and thematically in a contemporary flamenco dance and live music theatrical presentation. The pieces are tied together with transitions, lighting, props and digital imagery to compliment the sound and movement. The work explores shadows, the interplay between light and dark, through the lens of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung theories on the “Shadow Self” which exists inside us. It parallels the dancer’s personal journey: her search for the intangible shadows of the past, to then let go of resisting the shadow aspects of herself to finally accept her shadow side. Only then can one become fully actualized. During the past five years in Montreal, the group: dancer Kara Miranda, singer Alvaro Echánove and guitarist Henry Garf have been working together. They will be joined in British Columbia with a local professional Vancouver based percussionist, Davide Sampaolo.

You can find information about Kara Miranda detailed in the Biography page. Latest updates on social media can be found on the site's Blog.
