Windows 10 was launched in July 2015 with huge expectations, which the operating system has been able to live up to. A completely new interface with a number of exciting features, Windows 10 had all the ingredients to be a mega success on the global level, so it was. Despite having a conspicuous difference with previous Windows operating systems, there was one thing in common between Windows 10 and its previous versions, i.e., ‘Corruption issues’.
Even in Windows 10, system files would go corrupt, resulting in the system slowdown and data inaccessibility issues. Those who upgraded to Windows 10 were thinking that they would get rid of corruption issues, but that didn’t happen. However, there are some workarounds to fix Windows 10 corruption issues.
There are different methods through which the corruption issues in Windows 10 can be fixed, so let’s delve into those methods without any further delay:
Run Deployment Image Servicing & Management (DISM)
1. In the ‘Taskbar’ that is given at the bottom of the screen, you need to enter ‘cmd’ in the ‘search bar’, which is given right next to ‘Windows’ icon.
2. The system will search and display ‘Command Prompt’, which you need to right click on and then, select ‘Run as Administrator’.
3. Now, you will have to enter this command in the ‘Command Prompt’, ‘DISM.exe/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth’. Once you enter this, hit ‘Enter’.
It may take several minutes before the process is completed.
Run System File Checker Tool
Another way of fixing system file corruption is by running ‘sfc/scannow’ command, details of which you can find here below:
1. Open ‘Command Prompt’ using the same procedure as discussed above, but this time, you need to enter a different command, i.e., ‘sfc/scannow’ and then, hit ‘Enter’.
2. As you do so, the repair process will commence, so wait until the process is complete.
3. Don’t close ‘Command Prompt’ until the complete verification is done. All protected files that are present in your computer will be scanned and the corrupted files will be replaced with a cached copy, which you will be able to see in a compressed folder location of which would be: “%WinDir%\System32\dllcache”
Run SFC in Safe Mode
If SFC scan wasn’t successful in repairing corrupt files, then you need to perform this step. For that, follow below-mentioned steps:
1. Right click on the ‘Windows’ button.
2. Under Shut Down’ option, select ‘Restart’.
3. Out of the three options that you see, select ‘Troubleshoot’.
4. Now, go to ‘Advanced Options’ followed by ‘Startup Settings’ and then, click the ‘Restart’ button.
5. When you restart the PC, you’ll see a list of options from which you need to select ‘Safe Mode’ followed by repeating the steps to run ‘sfc/scannow’ in ‘Command Prompt’
System Restore
If it was all good in the system until a few days ago, then you can certainly go back in time by opting for ‘System Restore’ feature. Here is how you can restore your system to a previous state where it was working fine.
1. In the ‘Search’ bar, which is present in the ‘taskbar’, type ‘System Restore’.
2. As you do so, you will see an option labeled as ‘Create a Restore Point’ under which, ‘Control Panel’ is mentioned. Click that option.
3. The ‘System Restore’ dialog box will appear now, where you need to select a restore point and click ‘Next’. After that, follow on-screen instructions to restore your system.
Windows Reset
You will use this step when you find that all the important files and apps are backed up properly. To reset the Windows, here is what you are going to do:
1. Restart your computer followed by selecting ‘Troubleshoot’ and then, ‘Reset this PC’ option.
2. You will see a couple of options now, which are; ‘Keep My Files’ and ‘Remove Everything’. Select one of these two options.
3. Enter your ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ followed by selecting ‘Windows version’ and then, click ‘Reset’.
4. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the Windows reset process.
That was all about the process of how to fix Windows 10 corruption issues. These steps will definitely help you get rid of corrupt files from your system, and restore the normal functioning.
