Public participation in the Master Plan process is critical to making the Master Plan effective and meaningful. A multi-faceted approach to getting people involved and listening to their ideas and concerns will ensure this happens.
The Keweenaw County Master Plan website will host project background information, draft documents, schedule of public engagement meetings, and link to a community survey.
A postcard will be mailed to every property owner and identified stakeholders in Keweenaw County, to inform them of the planning project, provide a link to the project website and survey, and a schedule for public engagement workshops in each Township.
The project consultants will meet with a number of identified stakeholder groups working individually to improve and enhance various aspects of Keweenaw County, in order to get their ideas and concerns on the table early in the process.
Refer to the Summary in Project Documents.
A community survey is currently being developed. The community response to the survey, along with the public engagement workshops, will drive the future goals and strategies in the Master Plan.

Each of the Townships in Keweenaw County has their own unique character and needs. To maximize community involvement, the Planning Commission will host an open house public meeting in each of the five (5) Townships in Keweenaw County. The open house events will be structured to provide an informal opportunity for citizens to talk about community issues and opportunities in their community. All input will be documented.
