Welcome

Two of my lifelong passions have been the pursuit of knowledge and sharing that knowledge with others. My degree in organizational communications aided me immensely while I was working as a human resource manager and helped me perfect my management and relationship-building skills. These skills make it easy for me to talk to others and identify what it is they are looking for or having a problem with quickly before they can grow into bigger issues.

When I moved to South Carolina from New York, I decided to pursue a career in teaching. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching over the years and have picked up many educational skills that have allowed me to be successful. I find the key to teaching is understanding that it is not enough to simply know your content really well. You also need to learn how to be flexible and learn to adjust your lessons to meet your student's needs. To ensure that I am able to do so, I am always actively seeking new learning opportunities and ways to improve myself.

As my teaching career progressed I decided to take time to train other teachers. I have traveled around the country to facilitate teachers' training and prepare them to bring new curriculums and lessons to their classrooms. While these trainings started off as two-week face-to-face increments over the summer, they have grown to include virtual sessions that take place either once or twice a week for several weeks until all 80 hours of direct instruction are completed. This combined with my experience in virtual teaching has allowed me to grow my e-learning skills greatly.

I have recently graduated with my Master's in Educational Administration. This program has really taught me the importance of effectively managing and organizing resources, with the most important resource of all being people. It is critical that employees be properly trained and provided with effective professional development that is both relevant and immediately actionable.

I have also been sharpening my Instructional Design skills by completing certifications in many of the popular programs such as Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, and Articulate Storyline 360. I thoroughly enjoy instructional design and have picked up these programs quickly. As a lifetime learner, I fully understand the challenges of building eLearning content for learners of all backgrounds and take pride in my ability to meet those challenges. Simple things like providing closed captioning, quality translations of content, voiceover, and an aspect of choice in learning can go a long way in creating accessibility.
