Kevin grew up in challenging circumstances, but his parents instilled in him a strong work ethic and the ability to persevere through adversity. His academic achievements in high school earned him admission to Western University, from which he received a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Organizational Studies in 2011. He entered a career in finance, determined to achieve security for himself and his family. While on a trade mission in Asia, he came to further appreciate his good fortune at being given the opportunities of a ‘Western’ education. He decided to establish the Vuong Canadian Leadership Award as a planned giving donor, honouring an institution to which he feels he owes his career.
Kevin’s entrepreneurial journey began when he co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer at Delphic Research Group, an innovative govtech firm specializing in knowledge-as-a-service solutions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he founded TakeCare Supply to address the mask shortage, providing millions of masks to frontline workers and vulnerable communities. Kevin's efforts with TakeCare Supply earned him recognition as a COVID Hero in 2021.
Other accolades Kevin has earned include the Queen's Young Leader Award in 2017, Canada's Top 30 Under 30 in 2016 and Canada's Top Under 30 Pan-Asian Leader in 2014. As a member of the Canadian Y20 delegation to the 2013 G20 summit, he presented reports on global tax havens and financial regulations to international leaders.
In addition to his entrepreneurial and political roles, Kevin serves as a Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy, demonstrating his dedication to both community and country. He is a respected authority on topics such as crime, antisemitism, international affairs, artificial intelligence, and healthcare transformation. He has made significant contributions to academia through teaching at the University of Toronto and Western University.
Kevin is deeply committed to community service. He serves on various boards and organizations promoting inclusivity, equity, and youth engagement. His leadership as President of the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto's Board of Directors highlights his dedication to fostering a stronger, more united Canada.
