Serving as a mayoral appointee on the Taxation, Revenue & Utilization of Expenditures Commission, which acts as an advisory body to the City of Jacksonville concerning fiscal policy. This includes the City's long-range financial soundness, planning, budgeting (including taxation and revenue generation) and management.

Served as Vice President of the Jacksonville Young Democrats, facilitating youth engagement in Democratic politics through political organizing and civic engagement.*

*My political activities are distinct from my academic research, and I maintain a clear and deliberate boundary between personal beliefs and scholarly inquiry. Nonetheless, my engagement in political practice provides experiential insights that inform my understanding of political behavior in ways that traditional scholarship cannot.

Jimmy Peluso for Jacksonville City Council

Role: Community Outreach Specialist

Term: 01/2023 - 05/2023

Conducted direct voter outreach through door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and literature drops, playing a key role in engaging constituents. Additionally, I coordinated phone-banking efforts, including writing scripts to guide conversations, and managed a team of canvassers by providing instruction on canvassing strategies and data collection using MiniVAN. I also staffed fundraising events, assisting donors with event-related information and soliciting political donations.*

University of North Florida - Student Government

Roles: Senator, Vice-Chairman, Senate Parliamentarian

Term: 04/2021 - 04/2022

Elected Senator, placing 12th out of 43 candidates with 438 votes (20 allocated seats).

Served on the Budget & Allocations Committee and the Rules & Oversight Committee. As a member of Budget & Allocations, I actively participated in Student Government’s FY 2022 budgeting process and advocated strongly for increased club funding initiatives.

Additionally, I represented Student Government on the Student Union Advisory Board and served as Senate Parliamentarian, providing rulings and guidance on parliamentary procedure.
