I'm a Senior Researcher at States United Democracy Center and an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Political Science at Texas Tech University. I received my Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my B.A. from the University of Missouri. My academic research focuses broadly on public opinion, campaigns, elections, political communication, and state politics in the American context. My recent work centers on attitudes about democracy, elections, and electoral institutions; how confidence in elections affects turnout; identity politics; and how elite polarization shapes public opinion. My research has been published in journals like Political Behavior, Public Opinion Quarterly, Political Communication, Policy Studies Journal, and Political Research Quarterly.
