I'm a Senior Researcher at States United Democracy Center and an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Political Science at Texas Tech University. I received my Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my B.A. from the University of Missouri. My academic research focuses broadly on public opinion, campaigns, elections, political communication, and state politics in the American context. More specifically, my work centers on candidate interaction, the effects of cue taking in attitude formation, attitudes about democracy, attitudes about elections and electoral institutions, campaign advertising, identity politics, representation, and the influence of elite polarization on public opinion. My research has been published in journals like Political Behavior, Public Opinion Quarterly, Political Communication, and Political Research Quarterly.
