After a successful 35-year career in wealth management, Kevin Stapleton retired to Pebble Beach, California, where he had built his dream home. His professional life began in sales and marketing with IBM immediately after university. He dedicated nearly five years to IBM in Los Angeles before shifting to the financial sector with A.G. Edwards, where he developed a thriving money-management practice.
His tenure at A.G. Edwards lasted 21 years, during a transformative period in the brokerage industry, until the firm was absorbed by Wachovia Securities and subsequently acquired by Wells Fargo. He continued his career at Wells Fargo, spending nine years at their Carmel, California office, before founding Stapleton Wealth Management (SWM). At SWM, he served a discerning clientele for five years before opting to retire and relish his idyllic life in Pebble Beach.
At Wealth Management, he provided tailored services to high and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, encompassing investment management, financial planning, tax strategies, risk and insurance planning, trust and estate planning, and legacy planning. As a wealth manager, he focused on growing and safeguarding clients' wealth, devising personalized strategies to achieve their financial goals, and managing investments according to their risk tolerance and timeline.
He also crafted financial plans addressing retirement, educational savings, and other pivotal life events.
He implemented tax-efficient strategies to minimize the impact of taxes on the local, state, and federal levels over time. He ensured that his clients were well-protected against various risks by securing appropriate health, disability, long-term care, life, umbrella, and property insurance.
Moreover, clients relied on his expertise to formulate strategies for wealth transfer and to enhance the effectiveness of their philanthropic efforts.
Born on August 30, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, his affinity for baseball and his lifelong support for the Chicago Cubs started in his youth. He spent parts of his childhood in Phoenix, Arizona, and Sacramento and Stockton, California, attending high school in Stockton and acquiring an AA degree from San Joaquin Delta College.
He furthered his education at the University of the Pacific in Stockton. He later transferred to the University of Southern California (USC), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree focusing on Finance.
He, along with his wife Linda and their two sons, Grayson, 27, and Christian, 24, enjoys life in the coastal community of Pebble Beach, nestled between Pacific Grove and Carmel-by-the-Sea. This region is celebrated for its spectacular natural beauty and iconic golf courses, and it plays host to the esteemed AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
He enjoys managing his finances, traveling, cooking, and playing golf on the exquisite courses of Pebble Beach. He is a devoted baseball fan, frequently visiting Wrigley Field to watch his beloved Chicago Cubs. His passion for sports extends to football, basketball, and hockey, cheering for the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks, maintaining his deep connection to Chicago.
Kevin Scott Stapleton's dedication to his Pebble Beach community is evident through his active volunteerism. He leads the IHELP program at his church, providing support to men transitioning back into the workforce and community. He also spends Saturdays feeding people experiencing homelessness at a local park and is actively involved in Carmel Youth Baseball. As a member of the Rotary Club of Carmel, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, he is committed to fostering community improvement through charitable and financial efforts.
