Kevin Cass

About me

Pronouns: He/Him

Hello! My name is Kevin, and I'm a dual-major studying English and Social Work. I was born in North Carolina, but have lived everywhere from New York to Germany before landing here in Maine. I'm passionate about art, learning, and helping other people, so my dream career after college is to work with refugees and asylum-seekers as an ESL (English Second-Language) teacher.

As a writing consultant, I specialize in analytical and journalistic writing, but I'm happy to collaborate on writing of any sort! I also work at the Maine Campus as a copy editor (you can see examples of both my writing and editing work in the "Writing Samples" tab)

Outside of the writing center, my passion is music. I have the joy of playing percussion in several music groups on campus, including the UMaine Drumline. My experiences with music have taught me about the importance of listening, patience, and practice, all of which are important in my work as a writer and social work student too! All of these disciplines require care, humility, and a willingness to receive feedback from those around you. I also love reading and watching movies.

Please feel free to browse around to get to know me more! On this page you can find my resumé, tutoring philosophy, examples of my work, and of course pictures of my kitten Elmo! I look forward to working with you!
