BLACK AND WHITE
BLACK AND WHITE
In the worldview of the film Inception, there are six layers of the world, and the deepest layer is called ‘Limbo’, or ‘Lost Domain’. ‘Limbo is an endless and chaotic place with no concept of time. If the entrant is unable to distinguish between reality and dreams, he or she will be trapped in the Limbo forever. Do we all walk into an ordinary portal at some point in our lives, and then live in our own Limbo for the rest of our lives?
QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT
This photo was inspired by the first images of quantum entanglement theory. When a person is in a strong quantum entanglement phenomenon, could there be another person in an ‘entangled state’ in another ‘super location’? And which side of the world is the real one? Is ‘I’ just a branch of the millions of ‘I’ forms in the universe?
If the house is real, is its reflection in the water still real? As ripples spread, the house in the water distorts and contorts. With the passage of time, the actual house too will decay. If everything flows and changes in this way, why then do we trouble ourselves with distinguishing between reality and illusion?
This set of photos was taken in a ruin. The midday glare comes through the columns into the corridor. It creates a strong sense of depth, as if the door on the other side could never be reached.
The photography is inspired by Daido Moriyama's photographic style of high contrast, shaking and coarse particles. I was sitting on a bus when I took this photo and captured women resting on the side of the road in the late afternoon. What makes this photo special is that I was in the midst of extreme grief over a lost love affair when I took this photo, and the intense dizziness was just like this photo. And my picture of the end of this relationship was the scene I saw on this day.
It was a afternoon in a park. Three children ran inton my camera. They didn't care about anything. They just enjoyed the present without hesitation. An old man, who is one of their grandfather, sat on the bench and watched them having fun. Two different periods of life, but the same happiness.
Under the strong sunlight, the building seems to be a black and white image. But in fact, there are many shades of grey in between, just like the world is not only black and white but also has many grey areas.
CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY
This photograph was taken on a piece of scrap metal. Anthropocentrism suggests that humans are the centre of the universe. But what lies beyond human perception? Is it possible that our perception of the cellular world is also the perception of a greater controller.
A water valve controls a large area of rice paddies, is centrally controlled, and is indispensable. Human society has its own ‘water valves’.
The photograph shows cigarette butts landing on rain-eroded ground. How the world is viewed is a choice, the photographer prefers to see it as man on the moon, is this exploitation of a new planet like cigarettes, a harmful invasion?
doors in front of you are like two pills in the film. ‘The Matrix is all-encompassing and perceptible, it's just that the immediate world resists the truth behind it.’ This is a line from The Matrix, and the two doors are two options.
This photo shows part of a building. The building glows with purple lights in the darkness, like a stairway to the otherworld.
Countless tears have long since made people lose their reality, unable to explore the meaning of living any longer, leaving only transparent empty shells.
