Muslim Weddings (Nikkah)

Islam is widely practised in coastal and northeastern regions, and Muslim weddings follow Islamic law (Sharia). Nikah Ceremony: A religious contract between the bride and groom in the presence of witnesses. Mahr: A mandatory gift from the groom to the bride.Imam or Sheikh Officiates: The wedding is often held in a mosque or at home.Documentation: Islamic marriage certificate is issued, and it can be registered with the Registrar of Marriages for legal recognition.
Hindu Weddings: Kenya has a vibrant Indian community, especially in cities like Nairobi and Mombasa and Kisumu.. Vedic Rituals are conducted by a Hindu priest, including sacred fire rituals (Agni) and vows (Saptapadi). They are family centred with strong emphasis on tradition and family involvement.Ceremony can last several hours or multiple days.Venue: Usually at temples or community halls.Legal Status:Must be registered with the Registrar of Marriages under the Hindu Marriage and Divorce Act for legal.
