Kenya Mitchell (b. 1990) is a St. Louis–based artist whose practice centers on textiles, printmaking, and multimedia forms including painting and digital work. A south‑city native, she earned her AFA from St. Louis Community College–Forest Park (2018), was a Gyo Obata Arts Administration Fellow with the Regional Arts Commission (2023) and received her BFA in Studio Art with a printmaking emphasis from Webster University (2024). Drawing from personal experience, faith, identity, and community, her work explores Black womanhood, mental health, invisibility, and solidarity through a devotional approach grounded in truth‑telling, layering, imagination, and memory. As an advocate for the arts, Kenya is committed to giving back through teaching and mentorship, while creating technically skilled, visually compelling work that inspires. Her work has shown at ArtFusion, Morgan Papermaking Conservatory, Red Gate Gallery, The Luminary, TechArtista, Art St. Louis, St. Louis Artists Guild, Angad Arts Hotel, Arcade Contemporary Art Gallery, Soulard Art Gallery, Urb Arts, Cherokee Print Bazaar, and more. She is currently working at Kemper Art Museum Stl, a teaching artist at Central Print and St. Louis Artists Guild, and a studio member at Central Print & Artist Co-Op, the Stu aka Spring Breakers LLC.
