Hi, My name is Kennedy Pocha I'm from Helena Montana and I go to the University of Providence in Greatfalls Montana. School was always a struggle for me growing up, but when I had a teacher that went out of their way to help me I really excelled in school. I want to be this teacher for my students. A teacher who connects with them on a deeper level. I want to teach Elementary Students because I've always loved kids and really want to create an impact in their lives early on. I want to have a strong connection with my students and teach to every individuals learning styles for the best education possible.
Education Philosophy

The purpose of education is to teach students not only curriculum but also how to act in social environments, their values, and how they can contribute to society. I will put all my energy into my students because I believe education is so important. My students will always know that they are loved and accepted for who they are. By insuring this all students will be confident to succeed and make mistakes along their journey. Education gives students a chance to learn about new things and be in a new environment around other students. Students learn how to interact with each other and also teach them basic life skills. The overall purpose is to teach students in a way that prepares them for life when they are older. As a student gets older each grade should be preparing them for the next step in their life whether that's going to middle school, high school, getting your first job, or finding a career. This purpose of education can't be possible without teachers.
Teachers have a very important role of connecting with students and finding a way to have all their students learn the curriculum and basic skills. I will connect with every individual so I can learn their personal needs to teach them in a way they will understand and retail information. I will be a person in their life they can trust and have support from. As a teacher of elementary students I want them to feel comfortable asking questions during class time and to not be scared to ask for extra help with whatever they need. Students play an important role in education because without their cooperation their learning and education will be affected. My students will actively be engaged in the classroom, and if paying attention is challenging for them then I will find ways for students to focus. Ultimately, students need to be prepared and focused in class in order to have the best education possible for them.
My curriculum will be taught through hands-on activities and group projects. Hands-on activities are a great way for young students to learn because it helps get them engaged and interested in learning. Young students aren't as cognitively developed so learning can be hard for them to grasp, but if you make it entertaining and exciting for them they will learn better. I also will be involving group projects and group discussions in my curriculum. I want students to learn how to work with others of different backgrounds and also bounce their ideas off of each other.
My classroom will be very colorful and inviting for my students. When my students walk into my room I want them to feel joyful and excited to learn. Since my teaching style focuses on group activities my classroom will have tables for groups of students instead of individual desks. Although I want a playful and joyful environment in my classroom, I also want my classroom to be managed well. My classroom will need to be quiet and orderly for my students to be able to focus and learn.
Education's role in society is to prepare them for real world situations and give them the knowledge they need to contribute to society. As a teacher, I will teach my students about the problems the world faces today so they are prepared and are knowledgeable about what happens in society.
My current teaching field experience was student observation hours at Chief Joseph Elementary School. This was a very good experince for me because I got to watch the teacher use their own style and techniques that worked for their classroom. Not only did I observe the teachers habits and techniques but I also observed the students and their behaviors. As a teacher it is important to teach to every individual no matter their background or skill level. As an observer I noticed a few students who had behavior problems, this was easily handled with by the teacher in a respectful manner. I enjoyed getting to watch how these situations are handled and get an taste of what teaching is like. I think observing opened my eyes to the realities of teaching and the challenges you have to adapt to in the classroom.
