Join us for a weekend of elite-level competition in the heart of Simcoe County, the Kempenfelt Classic brings together the region’s best players for a 5-round classical Swiss tournament. Whether you are a titled master aiming for the top prize or a club player looking to test your skills in a professional atmosphere, this tournament is designed for you.

Format: 5-Round Swiss System.
Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
Rating: CFC & FIDE Rated.

We are currently finalizing our prize fund structure with our corporate partners. We are committed to a minimum guaranteed prize pool of $750 (split 60/40/0) to the sections Crown/U2000/U1500), with additional sponsorship funds going directly into increasing the purse for the Open and Section winners. Winners of each section will also receive medals and/or trophies. Please note: increased player numbers will increase the prize fund proportionately.

Can't make the Friday night 6 pm round? Feel free to request a bye for round 1 if you want to play in the rest of the tournament.

Byes can be requested up to 48h before the tournament for any round. Requested byes will be 0.5 points for the first 3 round, and 0 points for the final 2 rounds. Assigned byes are worth 1 full point.
