Consequence of Verbal or Physical Abuse at Kelsey Learning Centre are:

The Education Director will:

1.     Through consultation with the alleged victim, file a Freedom from Violence report and submit it to the appropriate person(s) as identified by divisional policy.

2.     Meet privately with the student(s) against whom a report has been filed.   The student may be asked to cease attendance for a short period or an indefinite period while the report is being investigated.

3.     Consult with the Superintendent regarding appropriate action which may include:

         - Suspension and/or expulsion from Kelsey Learning Centre or the division.

Description

Examples

Close in Advance

UCN campus/es, including buildings, is closed. Non-essential staff, students, and visitors are asked to remain home.

Blizzard, Snowstorm, Freezing Rain/ Ice Storm

Evacuation

People are required to leave the building due to safety concerns and go to the assembly point or another designated location.

Fire, Bomb Threat, Gas Leak

Shelter in Place

People are safer staying in a building. For some hazards (e.g., tornado) additional instructions (e.g., stay away from windows and exterior doors, go to the lowest interior level of the building) may be included.

Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, Hazardous Materials Incident (outside of building)

Hold and Secure

There is a security threat outside of the campus building. Access to the building is restricted and additional security measures may be implemented.

Threatening Individual (outside building), Active Shooter (outside building), Unplanned Protest

Lockdown
