The Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is a statewide voluntary reading motivation and comprehension program sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries in conjunction with a Library Services and Technology Act grant. Students in 3rd-12th grade, regardless of ability, are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints.
OBOB is open to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. Participating students get into teams of 4 or 5, split up the 16 book reading list, and prepare to battle. The battles take place in early spring, and consist of two teams competing against each other by answering questions about the books.
Prior to the battles there will be practice sessions in December, January and February.
