Herod recently left her role at Paramount as Vice President of Post Operations where she guided LA and Nashville-based teams working across 10+ entertainment brands.
Though her career trajectory led her down the executive management path, Herod has never forgotten her first love: storytelling. Her all-time favorite job was a senior year college internship for a development company, which tasked her with reading scripts and writing coverage all summer long. Her interests led her to sketch comedy and to becoming a head writer for a DC-based comedy troupe.
With two short films and numerous sketches under her belt, Herod shifted her focus to TV writing, relocating to LA in 2020 to pursue a career in the writers’ room. She writes comedic stories with imperfect women of color protagonists who are still figuring out this whole adulting thing. As a comedy writer, she likes bucking the stereotype of the strong Black woman, showing vulnerability without gratuitous trauma. She grounds her humor with a whimsical tone, often incorporating elements of fantasy.
Herod enjoys connecting with other creatives and looks forward to championing other writers of color. When not reading scripts, Herod can be found writing her next pilot at her favorite NoHo pie shop. She is also strongly addicted to romance novels and has no intention of finding a cure.
