Tom Chryst is a chess player and instructor/coach with 20+ years experience on the tournament scene.
He first began playing serious chess after helping teach chess to kids at a summer enrichment program in Bronxville, New York in the early 90s. He has played competitively in New York, St. Louis, Michigan, Wisconsin, Chicago and Texas. He was recently rated in the top 5% of Texas tournament players (1700+).
Tom has experience leading numerous scholastic chess clubs and tournaments, and has run a popular local summer chess camp. His own daughters have won dozens of trophies and awards in their own chess careers. He has privately coached both children and adults, and is the founder of Keller Chess Coaching (KellerChess.com).
Tom's philosophy is to teach kids the fun and beauty of chess at whatever level they're at, but also the value of sportsmanship and healthy competition - and how chess is a great hobby that can follow you your whole life!
