Training walk for all who are training for the Ten Tors 35mile Challenge.
This is our “Day on Dartmoor in January” walk designed to:
Introduce to those who have never been to Dartmoor before. To show how quickly they can navigate and walk around part of the North Moor
For those who already know Dartmoor an idea of where some of the most northerly Ten Tors Challenge checkpoint are, they will visit some of these checkpoint locations.
Start and Finish location and times are the same.
We aim to set the teams walking at 10:00 so please can you try to arrive before 0950 to allow 10 minutes before departure.
Although the advertised finish time is 16:00, they may finish as early as 15:00; so, parents must arrive by 15:00
it is better for parents to stay warm in their cars than having the young people waiting in an exposed environment.
It is easier for parents who are providing the transport to stay in the area during the day, or even come out for a walk on this part of Dartmoor.

Over the A30, follow Camp Road up to Okehampton Camp
Keep Okehampton Camp on your right, turn left down over the cattle grid to the bridge over the stream
Cross over the bridge
Straight on up onto the moor
this is the military road, which is tarmacked all the way up to the car park.
