My process of drawing is often a free-form meditation, a repetition of continuous contour lines flowing from my pen or pencil. It’s a lyrical beginning to the formation of a subject. Pressures vary and sometimes break to pause or breathe on the paper surface during my formation of the subject as I seek to find meaning and associations in my subconscious release. I have always been intrigued with line as it is our primal means of communication and depiction. The use of cross contour and hatchings in printed etchings have influenced my techniques. Drawing is almost a paradox in terms of my work habits as I often feel like I can paint faster than I can draw. I find it to be a more private unrehearsed exercise of expression.
