In total, the testing was conducted on 60 patients diagnosed with mosquito-borne diseases: dengue, chikungunya, and malaria (20 each); and on 20 patients without said diseases.
The expert system suggests the likelihood of a patient to have the corresponding disease correctly (without misdiagnosis of the other diseases): dengue (71.67%), chikungunya (83.33%), and malaria (91.67%). The overall performance of the system was tested using the chi-square test. Comparing the preliminary diagnoses of the developed medical expert system with the diagnosis of doctors, the researchers obtained a p-value of 0.464. This value is greater than the level of significance, 0.05; consequently, there is no significant difference between the two.
