Who were the Go-Go's?
The band originally formed in 1978 in LA with four members Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Margo Olvarria, and Elissa Bello. Cathy Valenitne and Gina Schock soon replaced Olvarria and Bello respectively while Charlotte Caffey was added forming the group that would go on to become famous. Their first album Beauty and the Beat was released in 1981 and topped the charts for 6 weeks and eventually went double platinum. They released two more albums before splitting up in 1985. they had various reunions over the years before releasing another album in 2001. After a few smaller tours and some additional concert performances the band went on their farewell tour in 2018 and finished their last show by announceing the opening date of the broadway musical Head Over Heels. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Following this honor they performed a few more shows around the US before announcing in 2023 that the group had disbanded.
