"Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats)."- Facts from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Many shelters and rescue foundations are looking for volunteers who can be foster parents. Especially kittens need you. You give them a home and your love, in return you accept "cat therapy" and lots of fun. Fostering is also very affordable; the vet costs ( spaying/neutering, vaccinations, emergency situations) can be sustained by most of the rescue organizations.
We have fostered 10 cats since 2016, where eight of them are adopted and living happily after with their families. They live with us with an average of two months. Each of them have different characteristics and our favorite ones are always changing. Saying goodbye might seem sorrowful, but knowing that they will be certainly happy makes us relieved. Their memories live with us and after each adoption there might be another kitty that needs our help. Thank you Pickles (Peaches), Sheba, Brina (Morticia), Rebecca, Dorian, Story, Harvey (Harvee) and Yogi (Luna). Thanks to "THE CAT'S MEOW ANIMAL RESCUE" for their unbelievable efforts, 24/7 helps and supplies.
So, what about you? Have you met your foster kitty? Keep calm and foster!

The idea of "having a pet" sounds very irresistible, but we do not know yet where we will be, how we will live etc. next year. (If you are doing PhD. or you know someone that studies, then you know that uncertainty.) So our next step was being a foster family for cats.
