Degree-level teaching at UCL

In my role as Director of Teaching at DCAL, I oversee degree-level teaching of DCAL staff, which is mostly within the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences but also other faculties within UCL. I am strand coordinator for the MSc in Language Sciences (specialisation in Sign Language and Deaf Studies). I teach PLIN0036 "The Linguistics of Sign Languages". I am affiliate tutor for the Affiliate in Psychology and Language Sciences programme (which includes specialist areas in Sign Language and Deaf Studies, as well as Communication Disorders and Speech Sciences). I also contribute to teaching (about linguistics and gesture) for PALS0020 "Deafness: Cognition and Language" and lectures about sign languages for various modules across the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences.

Student projects

I am usually available for supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate student projects within the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences on the visual mode of language (including sign language, multimodal communication, gesture), from the perspective of linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and related areas.

Short courses and CPD

I regularly teach short courses and contribute to DCAL’s Continuing Professional Development programme of courses. I am also available for bespoke training courses; please get in touch for further information.
