Research
My research interests are in the areas of machine learning, pattern recognition, augmented and virtual reality, signal processing, and image processing.
I am currently Associate Editor for the MDPI, Applied Sciences. I have also served as Senior Area Editor for the IEEE Signal Processing Letters, and as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, the Journal of Signal Processing Systems (Springer), and the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks.
Co-author of the book "Principal Component Neural Networks: Theory and Applications", (New York: Wiley, 1996).
In 1997, co-recipient of the IEEE Best Paper Award in the area of Neural Networks for Signal Processing for the paper "Adaptive Principal Component Extraction (APEX) and Applications", (IEEE Trans. Signal Processing, May 1994).
Member IEEE since 1989. Senior Member IEEE since 2008.
Chairman (1/1/2009-31-12/2010) and member (1/1/2005–2011) Machine Learning for Signal Processing Technical Committee (MLSP-TC), IEEE Signal Processing Society.
