The American Farm Bureau Federation is the national advocate for farmers, ranchers and rural communities. Just as the work of feeding our nation begins on the farm, we believe that’s where the policy that shapes agriculture should begin as well. Every year, Farm Bureau members in more than 2,800 counties meet to discuss and vote on policies affecting their farms, ranches and communities. Those policies then set the agenda for their state Farm Bureaus and ultimately AFBF.
The Farm Service Agency (FSA) administers and manages farm commodity, credit, conservation, disaster, and loan programs as laid out by Congress through a network of federal, state and county offices.
These programs are designed to improve the economic stability of the agricultural industry and to help farmers adjust production to meet demand. Economically, the desired result of these programs is a steady price range for agricultural commodities for both farmers and consumers.
There are 23 counties in Maryland with 20 County Offices to serve our producers.
Maryland Farm Bureau is a private, non-profit membership organization. It is completely controlled by its members through the democratic process and is financed by voluntary membership dues. Its strength comes from the active participation of nearly 10,000 member families that belong to the state’s 23 county Farm Bureaus. The American Farm Bureau Federation represents over 6.2 million member families in over 2,800 counties.
Farm Bureau’s purpose is to increase net farm income and improve the quality of life by providing a legislative voice, increasing public understanding and promoting member involvement. The organization helps members accomplish their goals together – something they cannot do alone.
The organization’s vision statement reads, “Maryland Farm Bureau shall be recognized as the leading voice of Maryland agriculture and the predominant force in agriculture policy development. Maryland Farm Bureau will be regarded as the most credible source of information and the strongest advocate of safe, environmentally responsible and economically sound food and fiber production.”
This Global Food Security Strategy presents an integrated whole-of-government strategy and agency-specific implementation plans as required by the Global Food Security Act of 2016.
The U.S. Government’s Global Food Security Strategy is an integrated whole-of-government approach that aims to end global hunger, poverty, and malnutrition through the Feed the Future initiative. The updated strategy, launched in the fall of 2021, builds from the previous five-year strategy that was developed under the Global Food Security Act of 2016. The first strategy created a blueprint to effectively implement Feed the Future, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the 2030 Agenda. Guided by the Global Food Security Strategy, Feed the Future proved that progress ending hunger is possible.
Since its inception in 2010, Feed the Future helped 23.4 million more people lift themselves out of extreme poverty, 3.4 million more children who are not stunted, and 5.2 million more families live free from hunger.

Glass and Paper-R-Us shopping platform is being developed to help establish healthy food products. Glass and Paper-R-Us promotes eating food sold and stored in glass and paper; including parchment and wax papers. Our food is in direct contact with only glass or paper---and that means paper with no plastic or thin plastic inner layer. Farmers are encouraged to sell locally and non GMO. We also need a non-plastic bag option in store produce sections for placing fresh fruits and vegetables for transporting to check-out and to final destination outside of each store.
There is plenty room for reinventing the wheel towards healthier living through the food we eat everyday. Currently this type of help is greatly needed. For example, there are no regular coffee creamer or coconut milk in glass bottles in many towns. Only plastic and aluminum.
