Short Bio

Kamal C. Paul is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the  The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2024, specializing in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for arc fault detection in AC and DC power systems. His research focuses on AI-driven arc fault protection, Embedded AI, and intelligent solutions for photovoltaic (PV) and grid-connected systems. 

He also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas State University (2018) and a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh (2009).

With over a decade of professional experience, Kamal has developed expertise as a researcher, problem-solver, mentor, and instructor. His recent work includes creating AI-driven algorithms for lightweight arc fault detection. He is passionate about addressing complex challenges, mastering advanced techniques, and driving impactful innovations.

Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys playing tennis and badminton, traveling, driving, exploring new destinations, sightseeing, watching movies, and staying updated on the latest technological advancements.
