KCGo ("we", "our", or "us") operates the KCGo Supermarket Price Tracker mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data You Provide Directly
Barcode Data: When you scan a product barcode, we process the barcode number to display product information.
Price Information: The prices you enter for products are stored locally on your device.
Quantity & Descriptions: Optional notes you add about products.
Location Data (Optional): If you enable location recording, we store approximate coordinates (5 decimal places, ~1.1m accuracy) to remember shop locations. This is disabled by default.
1.2 Data Collected Automatically
App Usage Data: Anonymous usage statistics to improve the App.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, for compatibility purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
To provide and maintain the App's core functionality
To allow you to track supermarket prices over time
To search and analyze your price history
To export your data in CSV format when requested
To display relevant advertisements (see Section 5)
3. Data Storage & Security
3.1 Local Storage
All your price records, barcode data, and location information are stored locally on your device in a CSV file. We do not upload this data to any servers.
3.2 Data Export & Backup
You can export your data to your device's Downloads folder at any time using the Export feature in Settings. We recommend you back up this file regularly.
3.3 Data Deletion
You can delete your data by:
Using the "Purge Old Records" feature in Settings
Uninstalling the App (this deletes the local CSV file)
Manually deleting the CSV file from your device storage
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Open Food Facts API
When you scan a barcode, we may query the Open Food Facts database (world.openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve product names, with only the barcode, no other information uploaded. This service has its own privacy policy.
4.2 Google Services
The App uses Google Play Services for location data (when enabled). Google's privacy policy applies to their services.
5. Advertising
5.1 AdMob by Google
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements in the App. AdMob may collect:
Device advertising identifiers
Approximate location (country/city level)
App usage data
This information is used to show relevant ads and measure ad performance. You can learn more about how Google uses data for advertising at Google's Advertising Policies.
5.2 GDPR/CCPA Compliance for EU & California Users
For users in the European Union and California:
We show a consent form for personalized ads where required
You can opt out of personalized ads through the consent form
We honor "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" requests
To opt out of personalized ads globally, you can reset your advertising identifier in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID).
6. Permissions
6.1 Camera Permission
Required. Used exclusively for barcode scanning. We do not store, transmit, or process camera images beyond immediate barcode detection.
6.2 Location Permission
Optional. Only used if you enable "Record Location" in Settings. We store approximate coordinates (5 decimal places) with your price records. You can disable this feature anytime.
7. Your Data Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Access your personal data (via Export feature)
Delete your data (via Purge or uninstall)
Object to processing of your data
Data portability (export your CSV data)
Withdraw consent (for location/ads)
8. Children's Privacy
Our App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
