I am originally from Glen Ellyn, Illinois a suburb of Chicago. I grew up skating in the Chicago suburbs with 2 PSA (professional skater association) rated coaches. I competed at the regional level as an open Juvenile and Intermediate. I passed my senior moves in the field test in 2008 marking my first gold medal in one of three US Figure Skating disciplines. When I turned 16 my mom advised me to stick around after my practice sessions and teach the learn to skate classes and that is where I found my passion for teaching. It was so thrilling to be able to share my growing passion for skating to young students eager to learn.
I attended Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!). I skated on both their synchronized Collegiate and Senior team. I was the 2010 rookie of the year and we were the 2011 Collegiate US. National pewter medalists. I was very fortunate and appreciated that I was able to continue skating in college. I passed my senior freeskate in 2012 while studying and competing at the collegiate level. This marked my second greatest achievement in the sport making me a double gold medalist.
I graduated from WMU with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I spent 2 years in Kalamazoo, MI after graduating as a reading interventionist in Kalamazoo Public schools and then as a preschool teacher.
In 2015, my husband and I got married and we relocated to Mishawaka, IN to be closer to his job. Right now I am going into my eigth year as an early childhood teacher at Marquette Montessori of South Bend Community School Corporation. I teach in a multi-age classroom of 3-6 year olds. I also teach Learn To Skate Classes at Compton Family Ice Arena . We have a 3 year old son and enjoy spending time with our dog, Zoey, being outdoors, and occasionally you will find me on the ice jumping and spinning around. I came out of "skating retirement" and competed in the adult division and placed 7th at the 2018 Midwestern Adult Sectionals. With 22 years (and counting) of skating under my belt I don't see myself slowing down any time soon!
