Game Assignments (The Process)
Basketball BC officials use the ArbiterSports scheduling software to assign games throughout BC, with each local area allocating its games to its group of officials.
When the assignor publishes a game assignment the official is notified via email and must choose to Accept or Decline the assignment as soon as possible.
Officials maintain their availability via the use of BLOCKS in Arbiter. Blocks indicate those days or times which you are NOT AVAILABLE for assignments. In a perfect world all assignments should be accepted, with the only exception to this being when last minute changes occur in personal schedules.

Game Fees 2026/27
The following are game fees which are split between the team of officials
This information is found in the KBOA Orientation manual as well.
Senior: AA & AAA League & Playoff Games (3 Officials) $150
Senior: AA & AAA Tournament Games (2 Officials) $120
Senior: A (2 Officials) $120
Adult Leagues $100 2p, $120 3p

Official’s Fee: We pay all officials equally, regardless of ranking or experience. Each official is therefore paid an equal share of the game fee (e.g., Two Officials, Senior A: $120 divided by 2 = $60.00 per official, or Three Officials, Senior Boys AAA League: $150 divided by 3 = $50.00 per official)
Administration Fee: 10% of game fees (in addition to game fee) will be charged to all games to fund allocation, education, observation/evaluation, and other administration costs.
BasketballBC Officials Committee Development Allowance: This fee (in addition to game fee), which is submitted via the KBOA to BasketballBC, covers their initiatives. For the 2025-2026 season, it will remain at $3.15 (GST inclusive) per game.
Mileage: For out-of-town games, we pay the CRA BC Kilometric Rate for travel. For the 2025-2026 season, this rate will be $0.63 per kilometer. This rate goes to the driving official (it is expected that officials travel together).
Travel Time: $10/hour travel time is also paid per each travelling official.
Single Game, Out-of-town Fee: Single games scheduled at out-of-town sites will be charged 1.5x the game fee.
Payment: KBOA members are paid twice per season. The first payment is before Christmas, and the second at the end of March. The Allocator will arrange payment to each official, and provide a a breakdown of each game officiated, the amount paid per game, and any fees deducted from the cheque.
Late Cancellation/No Show Fine: If an official cancels an assignment within 24 hours of game time without acceptable reason or does not show up for their game, the KBOA may fine the official an amount equal to their Game Fee, which will be credited to the Education Fund.
Dues:
Canada Basketball (CBOC): $40, paid via the BasketballBC website (start of season)
BasketballBC: $5 + GST for 1st Year officials, $20 + GST for 2nd Year officials, and $45 + GST for 3rd Year + officials, paid via the BasketballBC website (start of season)
