Passion Projects SF (PPSF) is a San Francisco-based nomadic gallery, shop, and community space celebrating the personal fine art of visual effects and post-production artists: the painters, sculptors, photographers, and writers who have shaped some of the most iconic films and television of our time.

For decades, the Bay Area has been a heart of the visual effects industry. ILM, Pixar, Tippett Studios, and others have called this region home, drawing generations of deeply skilled artists whose professional contributions are legendary but whose personal creative work is rarely seen. PPSF exists to change that.

Through curated exhibitions, an online gallery, retail sales of original work, artist talks, workshops, and community events, PPSF gives these artists a place to share their passion projects with the public, and gives the public a way to meet the full creative lives behind the films and television they love.

PPSF is online now and growing. Our first preview exhibition opens October 22, 2026 at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, bringing six of our artists to the wall with work in painting, drawing, and photography, each piece shown alongside the films, television, and games they helped create: Joel Aron, Leigh Barbier, John Bell, Joe Ceballos, Jiri Jacknowitz, and Kim Smith. Open to the public, 21+.

Our inaugural exhibition follows in winter or spring 2026/2027, expanding to the full roster and widening the range of work to include sculpture, metalwork, and encaustic alongside ceramics and additional retail.
