Hi! My name is Kayli Bains. I am a pediatric Occupational Therapist and I specialize in pediatric feeding and development. I received my Bachelor degree in kinesiology with an emphasis on pre-physical therapy at San Diego State University in 2014. I then attended St. Augustine University of Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA where I earned my Masters degree in Occupational Therapy.
Here is a little about me:
1. I’m a wife and mom of three. And no we have not had an updated professional family photo taken since my daughter joined our family in May 2023. Becoming a mom has made me the pediatric therapist I am today. I have a calling and passion to work with children and help/guide parents and families to optimize and nurture their child’s development whether that be through play, feeding, emotional regulation, social- emotional relationships, environment and/or activity modifications, etc.
2. I have been an Occupational Therapist (OT) since 2016. I have worked in a skilled nursing facility, in the hospital setting and mostly pediatrics in a medical therapy unit and outpatient clinic. I discovered that there is a huge shortage of OTs in the Central Valley and sadly the children and families here are not getting the services they need.
3. I work 2 days a week in the outpatient pediatric setting, and am blessed to also stay home with my children 5 out of 7 days a week! This had allowed me to start Kayli's Kids OT to reach families that otherwise would be on a 3-8 month waitlist to start services (and that's after finding a physician to write a referral and then waiting for insurance to cover services!). I have the luxury of being able to see most families within 1 week of them seeking services with me (no referral, no insurance, no waitlist).
4. When I started my masters degree in OT I originally wanted to work with pediatric patients but lost that desire in school… until finding my passion working for California Children's Services with 0-21 year olds with various orthopedic and neurologic disorders. I LOVED this population, and these children will forever have a piece of my heart.
5. I was born and raised in San Diego area and NEVER thought I would leave. BUT at 25 years old I moved with the love of my life and 5 month old baby boy to Fresno, CA.
6. I also thought I would start my family at the age of 30 years old, yet at 30 we welcomed our third child to the world (little did I know God had a different plan for us!)
7. My personal goal when working with families is to help parents feel confident that they have the tools they need to be their own child's best therapist and advocate, while still nurturing the child-parent relationship.
Thank you so much for being here, I cannot wait to be your newest mom-friend, advocate and occupational therapist!
