Children's Literature & Spanish Language Acquisition

How does the use of familiar children's literature impact student acquisition of the Spanish Language in middle school settings? Explore this site to learn about the action research I conducted in a suburban middle school during the 2018-19 school year.

In my study, students drew scenes from “La oruga muy hambrienta” (The Very Hungry Caterpillar) using color words. Another activity involved students running from one poster to another to practice their dictation in Spanish. I reflected, "[I am] so impressed with student engagement level and comprehension!"
