About Kayla
Kayla Flora is a professional photographer, artist, and writer from Laurel, Mississippi specializing in conservation, wildlife, nature, and documentary.
Growing up in rural Mississippi was a challenge but it made me who I am today. The hills and hollows of South Mississippi is where my love for nature and animals was born. In my early 20's I left Mississippi to travel and explore other parts of the world. My adventures led me to Alaska, where I have been for the better part of the last 10 years.
I am a self-taught photographer. Most of my work is considered fine arts and is meant to provoke emotion. It is focused on capturing moments of the natural world around us, whether that be wildlife, nature, scenery, or unique people. I am passionate about conservation, in love with trees, and have a heart for wildlife.
I am currently finishing my degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation. Once I graduate I will be a Wildlife Biologist which will help me enhance my skills as a conservation photographer and be a better advocate for wildlife.
My my mission in life is to be the best mother possible to my two daughters, Lara and Triniti, and to inspire others to love wildlife and the environment the way I do.

Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA): After gaining experience as a CST I went back to college to become a CSFA. This is no easy accomplishment and it has also been a rewarding career. I have worked along side some of the worlds leading and best surgeons and have assisted in many complex surgeries including MAKO total knee and hip replacements, craniotomies, cancer de-bulking, robotic assisted procedures, and many more.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST): I have been a CST since 2013. It has been a rewarding career in which I am proud of. Throughout the years I have been able facilitate and assist in countless life changing and life saving surgeries. It has been an honor to serve the public in a way that I believe makes a difference.
