People in their element: When people ask what I look for as far as subjects, this is what I mean. ^above: a man sitting outside The Met using a typewriter... don't ask me why.

Apparently every year, NYC shuts down a portion of 5th Ave for a day. Museums have free admission, vendors set up shop in bike lanes... a high traffic area quickly becomes simply an extension of sidewalk. When I took this picture, I had a moment where I realized just how bazar it was to walk down the middle of 5th Ave. What got me was the kids playing in the street, unfazed by the abnormality, to them it just meant a bigger canvas for their chalk drawings.

Part of what makes film worth the extra effort is its ability to capture a certain nostalgia found in the rawest moments of life. For instance, these are of the buildings surrounding my friend's apartment. A friend who's seen me at my worst and who's helped me up though she herself was struggling to stand. To me, they capture the core of that friendship. The moments of reflection spent on that block.

The other thing I love about film is the vagueness of time. Looking at this picture, there's a good chance the majority would assume it was taken many decades prior.
