Apparently every year, NYC shuts down a portion of 5th Ave for a day. Museums have free admission, vendors set up shop in bike lanes... a high traffic area quickly becomes simply an extension of sidewalk. When I took this picture, I had a moment where I realized just how bazar it was to walk down the middle of 5th Ave. What got me was the kids playing in the street, unfazed by the abnormality, to them it just meant a bigger canvas for their chalk drawings.Â
