Ka Wailele Financial Assistance Program

Grants Up to $2,000 for Native Hawaiians in Financial Hardship for Past Due Rent and Mortgage Payments, Past Due Utilities, Rent Deposits, Car Repairs, and Funeral or Out-of-Pocket Medical Expenses

IMPORTANT: Funding from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs is coming to an end and a new emergency assistance provider will be contracted.

Here are important dates we want you to know about:

  • June 30, 2022 – New applications will no longer be accepted and the new application portal closed.

  • July 1, 2022 - If you are interested in being added to a contact list for emergency assistance so the new provider can reach out to you, you may contact Hawaii Community Lending at 808.587.7656 or HCL@HawaiianCommunity.net to provide 1) your name, 2) phone, and 3) email. We will provide your information to the next emergency assistance provider once they are contracted by Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

  • July 15, 2022 – All pending and incomplete applications will need to reapply for funding with the new emergency assistance contractor. Please find more information on the Office of Hawaiian Affairs website at www.OHA.org/grants.

  • July 31, 2022 – Last day to approve and send out emergency grant funding.

Please note that funding will be disbursed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

After July 31st, Office of Hawaiian Affairs will transfer administration to the program to another organization and maintain communication with you on next steps to obtain emergency grant funds.

IMPORTANT: Financial hardships must have occurred within 3 months of application except for financial hardship for funerals which require the hardship within the last 6 months.
