I am a graduating PhD candidate from Monash University, Malaysia and I will be on the Job Market for the 2025 - 2026 season!
I am an applied micro-economist with research interests at the intersection of Political Economy, Development Economics, and Economic History.
Originally from Malaysia, I was shaped by the country's rich multicultural tapestry. Growing up in this diverse environment sparked my fascination with how historical episodes, education, religion, and culture intersect with economic development and inequality reduction. My doctoral research in Economics at Monash University Malaysia examines human capital development within the Malaysian and Asian context, using causal inference methods to understand these complex relationships.
Malaysia's multicultural influence extends far beyond my academic work. It's made me an avid foodie with a deep passion for understanding cultures through their culinary stories. I love exploring how food tells tales of migration and cultural exchange, and I'm always experimenting with dishes from different traditions in my kitchen. This curiosity about cultural intersections mirrors my research approach: digging deeper to understand the forces that truly shape economic outcomes in our beautifully complex region.
