Selected conceptual projects from the Architecture School of University of Moratuwa.
City "in-city"
The Project aims at introducing a mixed-use public building to the city as a catalyst to solve the issues that exist in haphazardly developed arterial suburbs of Sri Lanka.
Design thesis for me was more than just completing the SLIA Part-II requirement. I used my interest in observing human behaviour patterns in public places to design a public place/ space where we can initiate the neglected humane aspects in our suburbs. City in the city is an alternative perspective of how it could be if we remove all the existing buildings in the government quarter and re-establish them under one shelter which is durable, dynamic, and Iconic.
Long-lasting - Sustainable use of materials
Dynamic - Less dead spaces in the city at the end of use & can be adapted for another use
Iconic – Gives an identity to a monotonous city and acts as a landmark

Cinema Multiplex
Out of all the projects given for the 3rd year Major Design Project, I selected a cinema multiplex to establish a missing piece of entertainment in the city of Panadura bounded by the railway station and railway square.
I used the same project to achieve another goal which is to self-learn and complete a project using Revit (BIM).
Aquatic Sports Center
Aluthgama, despite being located on the edge of benthota, famous destination for water sports has no proper place to train for water sports. The Project was done as part of the 4th year Design project in Universirty of Moratuwa.
Narrow-Urban House
This design was done for a long narrow site, which is located in Colombo. 9m wide edge facing sub road and 30m long edges bordering high rise from one side and old house from the other side and another house overlooking the site from the rear end. With these conditions, the design had to focus inwards rather than opening it out.
The client is a family of six. Father a Photographer, Mother a teacher, twin boys at age of 14, and a 6-year-old daughter and their grandmother.
Visitors' and grandmother's rooms are located on the ground floor. Grandmother's room can be converted into a rental unit easily over time. Building services are all located on one side which has a dedicated service path running from the garage to the kitchen.
GF courtyard can be easily used for multiple purposes while acting as the focal point of the house. The kitchen & dining can be expanded outdoors by opening the door windows on the rear end.
The upper floor consists of a dedicated study area, two bedrooms connected by a sliding pocket door, a detached split bathroom, a master bedroom, a bathroom and a family living space.
