Green Feather Movement
Green Feather Movement
The Green Feather Movement occurred during a time when Senator McCarthy's assault on communism was popular. Censorship based on perceived communist activity was encouraged while ideas in opposition were considered un-American. However, the movement gained support on other college campuses where students understood the dangers of censorship and the power of protesting. The group garnered media attention as seen in the newspaper article above. Ultimately, the book Robin Hood was not censored and McCarthy was eventually censured. The group disbanded after this, but their impact on campus protests continued and paved the way for current student protests.Â
