victory march (2026 - ongoing), unfired clay and poetry
Victory march is a conceptual inquiry into the human cost of conflict, captured through fleeting, intimate moments. Shifting the gaze away from grand naratives of heroes or villains, the project centres on the anonymous 'everyday person' caught in the machinery of war
These humanoid figurines, sculpted in fragile clay, explore interior states of displacement and quiet endurance. Their diminutive scale reflects our collective vulnerability in the face of today’s aggressive political upheavals.
The title, victory march, serves as an ironic counterpoint to the grim reality that in modern warfare, victory is a hollow concept.
The project is accompanied by original poetry, creating a dialogue between the tactile fragility of the clay and the weight of the written word.
Gave a leg to serve the cause?
your nation credits all your loss!
You'll get a coin, enough to stand,
a chopped reed backrest in your hand

Pack the dead up from the street,
to clear the town of rotten meat.
Dogs around you growl with hunger,
and your hands begin to tremble.
During conflict you were brave,
you lost some friends you tried to save.
off the table falls a spoon.
What was that? the foe's platoon?!

The war is over, don’t complain!
It doesn’t suit the victory plan.
Stretch your chest, you must go proud!
Missing loved ones search around.
Fireworks before the battle,
didn’t taste like flesh or metal.
Now you wonder where to hide,
While with fright you hold your child.
