Can I give Food or Produce to the Foodbank ?

YES .... Food or Produce can be dropped off at any of the following places, or phone us so that we can meet you at the Foodbank.

How can I help?

Make a Donation of Food or Produce:

If you have fruit, vegetables or other produce that you would like to donate to the Foodbank please give us a call.

Non-perishable items (eg: canned food, cereals, long-life milk, biscuits, baking goods) can be put in the Food Rescue trolley at Katikati Countdown, which is collected by the Foodbank regularly. Or these items can be dropped off to any of the locations listed above.

Where does the Food come from ?

    • Groceries are "rescued" from local supermarkets - damaged packets, cans, close to expiry items etc

Non-perishable Food items can also be placed in the collection bin at Countdown Katikati
    • Bread and Meat are donated by local businesses

    • Vegetables are grown for the Foodbank, at the Maarakai Gardens. A team of committed volunteers tend to the garden throughout the year.

    • Local Churches have Foodbaskets where food can be donated.

    • Surplus seasonal fruit and vegetables are donated by local growers.

    • Annual Can-Collections -The Lions Club and the Local Emergency Services (police, fire, ambulance) run a can collection/drive each year where members of the public can donate non-perishable food.

What area does the Katikati Foodbank service ?

The Foodbank supports the Community as far North of Katikati as Athenree Road, and to Pahoia, South of Katikati.

We also work closely with other agencies in the Western Bay of Plenty including Waihi, Omokoroa Foodbank, and Tauranga Foodbank.
