My name is Katie! I am a high school teacher by day and cotton candy spinner by night (and on the weekends!).
I love anything that is colourful and brings joy and cotton candy does just that!
Check out some of the Q&A's below before ordering or requesting an event and please feel free to contact me with any other questions! :)
Q: How long does cotton candy last?
A: The life of cotton candy can vary. If you are eating a cotton candy cone that was spun live, it should be eaten shortly after purchase. Cotton candy in bags should be eaten within 1-2 days. If it is a particualrly hot and humid day, the cotton candy will melt quickly. Cotton candy that is stored in an air tight container can last several weeks! The cotton candy is not dangerous to eat after these time frames but it will shrink and lose its desired flavour and texture!
Q: What machine and health and safety measures do you use and abide by?
A: I use a Vevor Commercial Cotton Candy Machine (1030W). In Nova Scotia, cotton candy is considered a "low-risk" food so no food and safety permits are required to make and sell it. However, I follow strict health and safety guidelines like: using gloves, wearing a hairnet, and deep cleaning the machine after events. I use a "bubble dome" at live events to limit mess and ensure no wandering hands make their way into the machine.
Q: I want to place a custom order, what should I know?
A: There is no minimum order! If you only want one tub of cotton candy, it's yours! I can also do personalized party favours where I will design and print stickers to attach to your party favours.
32oz tub of cotton candy: $7.50
Small dome party favours not personalized: $3.50 per dome
Personalized party favours: prices vary based on printing, complexity of design, and amount of party favours requested.
Q: I want to book you for a live event, what should I know?
A: That it will be fun!!! But please be aware of the following so you are not disappointed: my machine can produce around 80 cones of cotton candy per hour. My business would be appropriate for events that have a guest list of no more than 70 people as the machine needs time to cool after a large number of cones. Events that might be humid will result in cotton candy melting quickly. For now, I do not have a generator so access to a three pronged electrical outlet and table would be required. I bring my own supplies and your choice of flavours. Cotton candy would be served on paper cones or wooden sticks.
Q: What are your prices/rates?
A: Prices may vary and are based off cost of supplies, labour, and industry standards. Contact me for quotes on custom orders or live spinning events. Live spinning would cost around $100 per hour. Custom orders would depend on level of personalization and quantity.
I am willing to do discounted live events for community organizations. Please contact for more details.
