Outreach Activities

BASIS Program / Berkeley Seismology Lab

During my time at Berkeley, I worked with the BASIS program (Bay Area Scientists in Schools) to visit local elementary schools several times a year. We provided classroom activities at the 4th to 8th grade level on earth science, plate tectonics, and earthquake safety. I also worked with the Berkeley Seismology Lab and the Berkeley EPS department to give hands-on demonstrations on earthquake science at the Bay Area Science Festival and other local events.

Berkeley Compass Project

I was an instructor and curriculum developer with the Berkeley Compass Project in summer 2015, where we designed and taught a course on earthquake mechanics for incoming undergraduate freshmen. The images below highlight several student-designed lab activities from the summer program.
