My name is Kathrine von Graevenitz - formerly Kathrine Lausted Veie. I am deputy head of the unit Environmental and Climate Economics at the ZEW - Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany, and Professor of Empirical Environmental Economics at the University of Mannheim sponsored by the Leibniz Association through the Program for Women Professors.
I am an applied microeconometrician. My research interests lie in empirical IO/environmental economics spanning topics from the diffusion of renewable energy technologies to the impact of environmental regulation on markets and firm performance. In the past, I also worked on the valuation of environmental amenities and disamenities in an urban setting (PhD thesis) . More information on current projects can be found in My Research.
I am a member of the scientific consultative group to the Research Data Centres of the German Statistical Offices of the Bund and the Länder. I am also a member of the Female Economists' Network of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
I was elected to the RatSWD where I hope to contribute to improving access to and opportunities to work with German micro data from 2026-2029. I am also an expert advisor to the the German Federal Statistical Office regarding the new system for the German firm level statistics (SysdU).
