I'm originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I completed my undergraduate education at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. Prior to starting graduate school, I completed a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Indianapolis, Indiana, where I worked as the Nutrition & Dementia Services Coordinator for a local area agency on aging.
When I'm not teaching or doing research, I can be found hiking or performing in local community theater shows.
